Phil Johnston

At Origin IQ, Phil brings more than 25 years’ experience as a founder, investor, and advisor across a range of IT and software businesses. Early in his career, he founded a document management software company that was successfully sold to a UK PLC in the early 2000s. Following the acquisition, Phil helped lead the rollout of the platform across the US and Europe, working closely with local sales, marketing teams, and partners to grow enterprise adoption.

Since then, Phil has worked as a consultant and non-executive across several high-growth SaaS ventures in the legal, edtech, and HR sectors. He has also invested in and successfully exited a Workforce Management business that was acquired by a major global player.

Phil has been part of the Origin team for the past five years, where he leads many of the company’s technology-focused projects.

When he’s not in front of his laptop, you’ll usually find Phil out on the waves in the Irish Sea — or chasing warmer surf somewhere in the southern hemisphere during the winter months!
